Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the GamPacto Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not install or use the Extension.

2. Description of Service

GamPacto is a free Chrome browser extension designed to help users reduce exposure to gambling content online. The Extension provides three layers of protection: a domain blocklist, smart detection (on-device heuristic scanning with optional AI-powered classification), and an optional accountability partner feature.

GamPacto is a harm-reduction tool, not a medical treatment. It is not a substitute for professional help from a counsellor, therapist, or support organisation. If you are struggling with gambling, please seek professional support.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use GamPacto. By using the Extension, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under 18, you should have parental or guardian consent before using the Extension.

4. User Accounts

Creating an account is optional. The blocklist and on-device smart detection work without an account. If you choose to create an account to enable AI-upgraded detection:

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use GamPacto only for its intended purpose — personal gambling harm reduction. You may not:

Use the Extension to circumvent, test, or probe gambling website security measures.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Extension's source code for malicious purposes.
Use the AI classification feature in an automated or abusive manner to exceed intended rate limits.
Misuse the accountability partner feature to send unwanted or harassing communications.
Use the Extension in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.

6. AI Classification

The optional AI-powered classification component of smart detection sends limited page data to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) via our secure backend. By enabling this feature:

You consent to short text excerpts and page URLs being transmitted for classification.
You acknowledge that AI classification is not 100% accurate and may produce false positives or false negatives.
You understand that this feature is subject to daily rate limits per account.

7. Accountability Partner Feature

The accountability partner feature allows you to designate a trusted person to receive notification emails when gambling content is detected. By using this feature:

You confirm that you have the consent of the person you are designating as your partner to receive these notifications.
You understand that notification emails contain only the date and time of detection — no URLs, page content, or browsing history.
You can remove your partner at any time, which immediately stops all notifications.

8. No Guarantees

GamPacto is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties or guarantees that:

The Extension will detect all gambling content. Some gambling sites may evade detection.
The Extension will be free of errors, bugs, or interruptions.
The AI classification feature will always be available or produce accurate results.
The Extension will be compatible with all websites or Chrome versions.

GamPacto is a support tool designed to assist with harm reduction. It should be used alongside — not as a replacement for — professional support, self-exclusion programmes, and other recovery resources.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GamPacto and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Extension. This includes, but is not limited to, damages resulting from:

Failure to detect or block gambling content.
False positive detections that block legitimate, non-gambling websites.
Service interruptions or unavailability of AI classification or notification features.
Unauthorised access to your account due to your failure to protect your credentials.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding associated with GamPacto are the property of GamPacto's developers. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Extension without prior written consent.

11. Termination

You may stop using GamPacto at any time by uninstalling the Extension. This will delete all locally stored data. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
